Movie News--Dr. Turk to be in "Kick-Ass 2"?

So instead of fighting disease, he's going to fight crime instead?

Yes, apparently Donald Faison (Dr. Turk from the television show Scrubs) is going to be joining the cast for "Kick-Ass 2"! According to a Deadline report, Faison is suppose to be playing Doctor Gravity. Doctor Gravity is part of the Justice Forever heroes from the Kick-Ass universe. He partners up with both Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl (one of my favorite heroes!) in the sequel. In the comic, Doctor Gravity claims that when he's not doing superhero work, he is a physics professor at Columbia University. This is where he created his iconic "Gravity Pole" which supposedly alters the bearer's physical composition, allowing them to float or when he flips the pole over become thirty times heavier. As amazing as Doctor Gravity story sounds, it is completely false. SPOILER AHEAD! Some parts of it are true. Doctor Gravity does go to Colombia University, but as an undergraduate English major. Also, the "Gravity Pole" is nothing more than a standard baseball bat wrapped in tin foil.

When "Kick-Ass" came out in 2010, it was always intended that there would be a sequel. When the "Kick-Ass" comic was created, the creators always knew it was going to be made into a movie. This is why the movie and comic are sort of closely related. I, personally, like the movie a bit better because it tied up lose ends better and had a bit of a better story than the comic. I think this is due to better writing of certain characters back story. It is hard to say when the "Kick-Ass" sequel will come out, but it is rumored for 2013. At first it was scheduled for a release date in 2014, which I think is more realistic since filming begins in September, but now it is rumored that it will be released some time in 2013. I am  very excited for this to come out since it is one of my favorite movies and also one of my favorite comics.

I also think Donald Faison would be a great edition to the "Kick-Ass" cast. With how witty the script will probably be and with who his character is, I think he would be great for the part. He usually always gives a pretty fun performance in whatever television show or movie he is in. I'm curious to see who else will be joining supporting cast in "Kick-Ass 2" since they are going to involve the Justice Forever team. Members of the team who join at one point or another are Colonel Stars, Lieutenant Stripes, Battle-Guy, Moon-Bird, The Enforcer, Ass Kicker, Remember Tommy, Insect-Man, Rocket-Man, Night-Bitch, The All-seeing Eye, and of course Doctor Gravity. I doubt all these characters would make an appearance in the film, but it would definitely be cool if they did!

So what are your thoughts? Is Donal Faison a good pick for Doctor Gravity, or should there be a different actor for the part?
