"Taken 2" is owned by 20th Century Fox.
Release date: October 3, 2012
Liam Neeson is back to do what he does best, but instead of saving his daughter this time, it's his ex-wife. The plot to this film is very similar to the first, but with a couple little tweaks here and there. In "Taken 2" Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) decides to spend some leisure time with his ex-wife (Famke Jassen) and daughter (Maggie Grace) in Istanbul (which is in Europe). Well I guess Mr. Mills didn't quite learn about the horrors of Europe the first time since while vacationing, the family is tracked down by Albaian criminal so they can get vengeance for their brother from the first film.
The film looks pretty much the same as the first so I'm not expecting anything new from it. I'm not being completely fair in saying that though because there is definitely something new to this film, just not the story/plot. The new thing I am talking about is the Maggie Grace's character, Kim, doesn't get to be the "damsel-in-distress", rather she has a more proactive role (which is something I definitely do like). In saying that, it looks like the same action/thriller we got before. There's even a deja vu moment when Bryan Mills informs his daughter of what has happened over the phone (cell phone). With all this does it mean it's going to be a bad film? No, not at all. It might actually be really good. As I said before I just don't see anything really new to this one from the first (except for a few things), and I just don't think this one really needed a sequel (but I guess there have been worse sequel before).
What do you guys think? Are you excited to see Liam Neeson back as Bryan Mills saving his family again?
