From young assassin to a queen...is there anything this girl can't do?
Screenwriter Michael Hirst sticks to his love for the European Monarchy to write his new script "Mary Queen of Scots". For those of you that don't know, Michael Hirst has written screenplays for movies such as the Best Picture-nominated "Elizabeth" and it's sequel "The Golden Age". Hirst is also the creator of the television series "The Tudors" on Showtime. Hirst will probably make his new script as dramatic filled as he has for his previous work.Hirst’s new project is being backed by Working Title Films, the same production house that behind his previous historical dramas.
So with new script on the way it's time to start thinking of casting. According to Deadline, Saoirse Ronan is attached to headline "Mary Queen of Scots". Saoirse Ronan is no doubt one of the greatest child actors of our time being 18 years old and already have been an Oscar-nominee. Ronan first started out in the film "Atonement" at the young age of thirteen. Even then with her performance, it was easy to see this girl has a true talent and would be making her way up to stardom. She then went on to be in Peter Jackson's "The Lovely Bones" and Peter Weir's "The Way Back". The last film we saw Ronan in was "Hanna" back in 2011 where she played a child assassin. Of course, she did not disappoint in the part. For upcoming roles, Saoirse will be playing a young woman whose conscious is invaded by an extra-terrestrail parasite in the much anticipated movie "The Host" next year. She will also appear as a vampire in the upcoming film "Byzantium".
With Ronan's background in successful movies, and she has shown how talented she is from her performances, there is no reason why she shouldn't get the part. With how exaggerated the script will probably be so that it will be more dramatic, Ronan can probably portray the queen best, especially given the queens history. Saoirse can show an array of emotion and truly knows how to entertain a crowd. With all this being said though, the film still needs a director and a green lighted script.
So what do you think? Can Saoirse Ronan pull off being the Queen of Scots?
