Movie News--Ben Affleck to direct "Justice League" Movie

So "The Avengers" gets Joss Whedon and "Justice League" gets Ben Affleck? Take that Marvel?

With Marvel and Disney studios releasing this week that Joss Whedon will be back to direct and write "The Avengers 2", Warner Brotehers studios knew they had to take action in trying to make the DC universe more of a competition. With this, they decided that they might be able to bring a crowd in with a live-action "Justice League" movie. Even though Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" movie (the new Superman movie coming out next summer) is going to set a new record for DC live action movies (be sort of a response to the Marvel movie franchises), fans have been really patient with waiting for a "Justice League" movie to come out.

So as we all know, Christopher Nolan ended his Batman trilogy with the release of "The Dark Knight Rises" this summer. He was asked to take the job of directing the "Justice League"movie, but he sadly turned it down because he is not interested in doing it. According to Variety, a few inside sources claim that Affleck is the only directorial candidate who has bee sent Will Beall's "Justice League" screenplay. It is also being said that Affleck will be chatting with Warner Brothers studios over the next few days.

Ben Affleck is still a bit of a new comer to major film directing, and although he has directed some good films such as the Oscar-nominated 2010 film "The Town", I don't think he is quite the best pick for this film. We all know Zack Snyder is going to do little to nothing for "Man of Steel" (even though I still hope it might be kind of good since Superman is my favorite superhero of all time!), and with how Warner Brothers wants to start make their live action comic movies more of a competition, I think they need a more grounded director. I know Affleck's upcoming film "Argo" is very anticipated, but he is still just a beginner at directing major films. I could be wrong though. This could be his big break and he might have a different approach to directing it. It would even be better with a really solid script and cast to go with it. But as usual, we are going to have to wait and see what happens in time with what Warner Brothers wants to do with this film.

What do you think? Do you think Affleck is an awful pick, do you want to hear what his approach might be to it first before deciding, or do you think he is definitely the man for the job?
