Movie News--Should J.K. Simmons Return as J. Jonah Jameson in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2"?

On one hand he definitely should...but on another hand maybe not.

Although I am not much of a fan of the Sam Raimi "Spider-Man" films, one thing that was always great in them was J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. For those of you who can't remember who J. J. Jameson is, he is the Editor-in-chief of the fictional newspaper Daily Bugle that Peter Parker works at as a photographer. Simmons did a fantastic job with the role staying true to the character in the comic by having great busty delivery of his lines. J. Jonah Jameson/ J.K. Simmons stole every scene he was in and we couldn't wait to see him again and again. Because of this though, this is sort of why he wasn't in "The Amazing Spider-Man".

Simmons says he is open to returning to the Spider-Man franchise, which is rare since most actors stop after the franchise is done, but should he really? Yes, he is a fantastic actor and nailed the role of J. Jonah Jameson, but this was also when the Spider-Man movies were just more of a fun movie to watch instead of a dark, edgy comic book film. The newer Spider-Man movie, although funny at times, brought us a new look into the Spider-Man universe that the previous films did not. It had more of the "Dark Knight" feel to it that there is a positive and negative side to being a superhero. Like I said this movie does have it's funny parts, but should we have over-the-top comic relief then? Also, this is a brand new Spider-Man series, so should everything just be new for it?

I, personally, think J.K. Simmons should be brought back to play J. Jonah Jameson. Even though this is a completely different Spider-Man series with it's darker, edgy feel (which I personally loved), I think J.K. Simmons as some comic relief wouldn't be a horrible thing. After seeing him in the previous Spider-Man movies, I can't picture anyone else playing the role of J. Jonah Jameson.

What do you think? Should J.K. Simmons be brought back or should someone else be picked for the iconic role?
